Blood Circulation |

Blood circulation, blood circulation and again, blood circulation! The importance of blood circulation can never be overemphasized. Pain occurs when and where blood circulation is impeded and symptoms include lower abdominal pain, true heart pain, pain due to internal bleeding of the viscera or associated with contusion, pain from inflammatory congestion of the viscera and stubborn, deep-rooted pains of the viscera, limbs and body, etc. Blood stagnancy is another. This includes blood stagnation, ulcers, inflammatory or suppurative pathological changes and thrombolphlebitis, and what is more serious, tumors. The action of blood circulation includes vasodilation, analgesia, antibalcterial, anticancer, promotion or inhibition of uterine contraction, promotion of absorption and anticoagulation.
Chinese herb medicine is especially good at promoting blood circulation and removing blood stagnancy. Certain herbs are particularly used for this purpose. Blood circulation formulas are seldom single herb and in most cases are made of many herbs. These formulas are often contraindicated in patients with menorrhagia and hemasthenosis , and since some of the herbs are also abortifacients, they should not be used by pregnant women. |
