What are the natural ingredients delivered with the Arthri-MED Medicated pain patch?
Glucosamine sulphate 547 mg, glucosamine sulphate is a natural substance that stimulates cartilage production and joint repair. Numerous studies have shown glucosamine sulphate to be effective in relieving the pain and discomfort of osteoarthritis, which
results from the progressive degeneration of cartilage and bone in joints.
White Willow bark 204 mg, the bark of the white willow tree has a long history of use in herbal medicine. In the 5th century BC, hippocrates wrote about a powdered extract from willow bark that could ease pains and reduce fevers. White willow bark is also mentioned in ancient egyptian, assyrian, and greek text. Native american tribes used it in the treatment of headaches, sore muscles, fevers, and chills. The bark's active constituent, salicin, is the substance from which aspirin was originally derived.
Chondroitin sulphate 114 mg- Chondroitin sulphate is a protein molecule that occurs naturally in the body. It gives cartilage elasticity and supports joint health. Chondroitin sulphate works synergistically with glucosamine sulphate to stimulate cartilage production. Recent studies have shown chondroitin sulphate to be effective in alleviating joint pain and in arresting, and possibly reversing, the progression of cartilage degradation.
Camphor 61 mg- Easily recongnized by its pungent aromatic odour, camphor is distilled from the oil contained in the leaves of a large evergreen tree native to Asia. Camphor is know throughout the world for its analgesic properties. The ancient indian medical system of Ayurveda values camphor in the treatment of gout and rheumatism. In Traditional Chinesa Medicine, camphor is used to treat skin diseases and to promote wound healing. A common ingredient in ointments and liniments, camphor helps to relieve muscle pain, sprains, bruises, and inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis.
Capsicum 31 mg- Capsaicin is the pungent chemical compound in different types of peppers, including cayenne pepper. Recent clinical studies have confirmed that capsaicin has analgesic properties when applied topically. Researchers have observed that capsaicin's pain-relieving effects is triggered by a substance believed to play a role in communicating pain signals between the nerves in the spinal cord and other parts of the body. It was determined that capsaicin appears to first stimulate and then decrease the intensity of signals in the body, resulting in long-term pain reduction.
Menthol 26 mg - Menthol, an essential oil extracted from peppermint, is common ingredient in balms and liniments and is used therapeutically as a topical analgesic. Its refreshing cooling effects helps to relieve muscle and joint pain and to calm inflammatory conditions.
Eucalyptus oil 20 mg- Essential oil is obtained by the anqueous distillation of the fresh leaves of the Australian eucalyptus tree, which derives its name from the greek eu, meaning "well", and kalyptos, meaning "cover". The name thus makes reference to the herb's protective effect. Eucalyptus is widely known for its astringent, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory properties.
A commom ingredient in topical ointments and therapeutic lotions, it stimulates blood flow and helps to relieve arthritis pain and muscle aches.
Clove oil 10 mg- A native of Indonesia and the Malacca Island, the evergreen clove tree has bright green leaves and nail-shapes flower buds, from which the oil is distilled. The Greeks and Romans valued clove oil for its antiseptic properties, as well as for its ability to numb tooth pain.
Clove oil's powerful analgesic and inflammatory action makes it an effective therapeutic agent in the treatment of muscular and joint pains.
Is there any research on the topical application of these pain-relieving ingredients
Several double-blind studies, including research by Grove, M.L Theodosakis, J. published in the April 2004 issue of the Journal of Rheumatology have confirmed the effectiveness of a topical preparation containing glucosamine sulphate, chondroitin sulphate and camphor for reducing pain of osteoarthritis, specifically of the knee. The additional ingredients in the Arthri-MED Medicated pain patch are formulated for optimal synergistic support and pain relief.
Scientific and clinical studies support the efficacy of Nature's Harmony ArthriMed Medicated Pain Patch for the treatment of muscle and joint aches and pains. One study randomized 63 patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee to receive a topical glucosamine and chondroitin preparation or placebo for a period of eight weeks. The scientists concluded that the topical application of glucosamine sulphate and chondroitin sulphate is effective in relieving the pain of OA of the knee and improvement is evident within four weeks.
